St George's day is my birthday, so it's hard not to celebrate in my case😂. In all seriousness, though, once I was asked if (as an English person) I was proud to be born on St George's Day. I think that pride is the wrong word when asking if one is proud to be British, or gay, or, in my case, born on the 23rd April. It is just an arbitrary fact. I'm not religious, but pride is considered a sin in Christianity. Whilst I don't consider it a sin, I think that pride requires some kind of effort to be legitimate. Love is a better word than pride because it can be unconditional. You can love something even if it has faults. I'm not "proud" to be English because it isn'tsomething I achieved through effort, but I do love living in Britain and I can't help but love the culture I was born into, even with its flaws. I don't think it is wrong to love where you came from, or where you end up. The two aren't mutually exclusive.
